There are a number of Multiage classrooms here at The Sullivans School. We are hoping that some of you may be curious about the program. The Multiage teachers have put together a presentation about what a multiage class is, how it is similar/different from other classes, and why it is worthwhile to have programs like this in our school. We want to get the word out. We want to let parents ask questions. We want you to have quality information now, before re-registration.
There might be misconceptions about multiage and we want to try to clear those up before parents to consider possible placement of their children in our classes.
So…we are arranging four opportunities to check it out:
- Tuesday, March 22: 8-8:45 a.m. and 2:15-3 p.m.
- Wednesday, March 23: 11-11:45 a.m. and 5-5:45 p.m.
We will meet in the B building computer lab with a presentation highlighting the philosophy and methods of our program. We will also answer questions and concerns. Following the afternoon and evening meetings we can let parents have a look in the classrooms.
Mulitage is not a fit for everyone. Our program uses and teaches the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) standards, has students of differing abilities in the same setting, works with special needs students, and differentiates just like all the other classrooms in The Sullivans School. Multiage students work in a community and are encouraged to take ownership of their learning and knowledge.
If you want to know more, please mark your calendar. You are not making a commitment by coming to the meeting, but if you decide to consider our program for your child we will ask for commitment and support.
